Numfem Therm is a thermal simulation software, that is directly synchronized with BIM data to simulate the thermal behavior, from a simple thermal bridge to a whole 2D view.
Numfem Therm is not a 2D/3D drawing software, because it’s linked to Revit and uses all its modeling capacities.

First of all, the common traditional approach to achieve thermal simulations requieres to draw the thermal model, assign manually the materials and the boundaries conditions, create reports after calculations…
Sometimes several softwares are needed, that may be inconvenient and time consuming when it comes with design modifications. Additionally, you might have to deal with multiple file types with possible data loss between them.
We’ll never say that approach is not good, we just say that’s just not BIM.
Today, it clearly appears that BIM offers huge benefits in terms of : endless possibilities in modeling, structured data, collaboration, task automations… That’s why we are conviced that BIM can save a lot of time and increase quality.
For instance, i really don’t know how much time is needed to sketch and calculate such models (see below) using a traditional approach : maybe hours, what happens if the models change ?

Numfem Therm works under Revit 2020/2021/2022 (not LT version) and under windows operating system with no minimal requirements others than Revit’s ones.
Numfem Therm is developed under, and officially targeting, Windows operating system.
It may work under Mac (Bootcamp, Parallels), but we do not have any certitude as far as normal operation / stability / performance are concerned.
Numfem Therm is available as an annual subscription.
The license is for standalone workers, and is locked to a workstation.

We already support :
- ISO EN 10211 for thermal bridges : psi value, as well as the exterior value for the PHPP, and the interior psi value (for the RT ex/RT 2012/RE 2020).
We may support in the near future :
- ISO 10077-2 for thermal performance of windows : Uf and Psi edge value.
- CEN 673 for glass in buiding : Ug value.

The connexion with Revit is mainly based on the definition of project/global/shared parameters, so that you can adapt Numfem Therm behaviour to your specific needs.
Numfem Therm is currently compatible with Autodesk Revit, but we may investigate the connection with other CAD softwares (ArchiCAD for example) in the near future.
IFC is the OpenBIM standard, and fulfills many requirements as far as thermal analysis is concerned.
But right now we’re still focusing on Revit, for it is the only data source that gives us the right level of reliability, readiness, and completeness.
Numfem Therm is based on a BIM paradigm, that means datas and geometries must be changes in the BIM project.
No worries, it’s possible to override the thermal conductivity through a specific parameter in your material asset.
Real 3D details are sometime very complex and time consuming, that’s why Numfem Therm is compatible with 2D drawing details in Revit using filled & masking regions inside views/callouts. Revit is very powerfull for 2D parametric modelings, AutoCAD is not useful anymore !
Reports are made directly in Revit using sheets and result pictures created by Numfem Therm.
Yes, Numfem Therm is fully customizable as regards to :
- Language, we already support english and french. We can easily add others languages on demand.
- Unit system : SI and Imperial
- The graphical user interface uses modern windows standards, that’s mean it’s fully customizable (themes, dockable panels, layouts…)
We’re thinking and investigating on that… If you have some ideas, let us known !
Revit can import these files in a 2D view, that Numfem Therm can then analyse.
Nevertheless, experience has shown that the best choice is to recreate 2D generic family objects or draftings using filled and masking regions, because DXF/DWG data quality may varying a lot.
As far as the 2D is concerned, we plan to provide more calculations : Revit tools to facilitate automations, moisture prediction, solar radiation, convection models, transient simulations, parallelization/batching calculations…
